What about the mess and upheaval in my home when your electricians come to rewire?

From our first point of meeting we ask you when you would like any work to start and where would you prefer our electricians to start. And we do like to give you an expected date for completion. We do like to ask you if anyone will be at home during the day and how our electricians may be able to contact you should the need arise.

Typically, we may agree with you to start with upstairs rooms which may involve moving furniture, taking up floor coverings and channelling walls. We do explain that whilst we are not carpet fitters, laminate floor layers or plasterers we do take into consideration your home.

Obviously, our electricians use dust sheets and cover furniture and wear ‘over-shoes’ to protect your carpets and furnishings. And we use our own industrial vacuum cleaners to remove any masonry debris because not to do so will ruin your Dyson!

We do make you aware in older homes that disturbance of plaster due to chanelling can result in reinstatement that will be required to be carried out by a plasterer. And whilst we will have tried to identify any walls with you that we feel may be particularly susceptible, we cannot guarantee that plastering may not be required. However, we would have informed you of the costs for any plasterer that we would provide, but more than that, one of us would personally introduce the plasterer to you on the morning of any day selected for plastering to be carried out, and we would return later that day to ensure that both you and the plasterer are happy with what has been done - then the plasterer is paid!

With respect to floors, our electricians have floor board lifting tools and for sheet boarding we even have specialist cutters or routers that can remove a small circular area of sheet leaving a rebate into which the small circular cut-out is later reinstated and secured.

We do not ‘notch’ joists because the 17th Edition wiring regulations require (Regulation 522.6.5) that cable passing through joists or a ceiling support ‘shall be at least 50 mm from the top or bottom’. We use a right angled drill!

And, finally, our electricians do not cut through your bedroom carpet with a Stanley knife simply because we think it is too much trouble to move the wardrobe! But we still know people who do!

What happens if I am not happy in some way?

The first thing that you must do is tell us because in life in general, things go wrong when there is either no communication or anyone is made to feel that they cannot communicate. We don’t want to fail you - and neither do we want you to fail us!

Once we go ahead together in carrying out electrical work for you, particularly in your home, then we keep you updated as to daily progress and we also need your feedback as to how you feel that things are going. Look upon it as a daily debriefing!

What happens if I am happy?

Then so are we, and we invite you to participate in a ‘partnership loyalty scheme’ with us, whereby your personal recommendation resulting in a new house rewiring contract for us, brings you a cash bonus! Ask our electricians about this.

Is there anything else I should know?

Yes! There will almost certainly be things that you neither expect nor will have been offered by other elctricians that we will subsequently include in our price once you have signed up with us. It demonstrates from the outset our good will towards you and our appreciation of your custom!

Why Choose Us

Welcome to Birmingham Electrics Ltd - our philosophy and commitment to you!

Birmingham Electricians

Particularly if you are a homeowner, as your electrician we feel the key is to treat you and your home or property as we would treat our own - and show you that we are just as proud and satisfied to work with you as we have been in working with any of the agencies that are detailed anywhere on this site!

That is specifically why we say that we want to work with you!

A Family Company

There is a ‘feel good’ factor in being reassured that you are dealing with a family company. Our electricians won’t be leaving big foot prints over your carpet complaining to each other that ‘we prefer industrial because we don’t have to use dust sheets!’

What about the environment?

We use fuel efficient vehicles with minimal excise licence duty and fuel costs and hence minimal emissions. That is better for the environment, for you and for us because overheads are also reduced to a minimum.
